Dramatic Staircase Design

Staircases are not the easiest things to design and build by yourself. There are a lot of things to consider, which is why most people hire the professionals to do their staircases.

But really – what’s the worst that can happen if you do it yourself?  Well, in our experience, it’s getting to the bottom of building the staircase and finding out that you are out of room for that last stair. That happens more times than you would think.

The spacing between stairs needs to be carefully considered before you start building, otherwise you will end up with a bigger or smaller stair at the top or bottom; and that just doesn’t give a person a feeling of safety when using the stairs – not to mention that it just doesn’t look right.

Railings are another thing to consider. Do you want wood or metal railings? And, will the railings you select work out with the size and shape of the stairs you want.  For example, in this staircase, we started out with wood, which might have warranted a nice wood railing. But you can see that after the carpet went on the metal railings give it a very light/bright feeling. It looks clean and gives the entire space a much more dramatic look.

This is a two-part staircase with a landing; then stairs start around the corner to the bottom. Many people do this type of staircase design when they don’t have much room to work with or want a less steep angle.  You can see that if these stairs went directly down without the landing and curve, they would be so steep it would be almost impossible to get up and down them safely.

As you can see, you don’t want to build a staircase without first looking at the overall stair design and feeling that you want to accomplish. Once you get the general design completed, you can follow through with railing selections, wood preferences, or carpeting instead of leaving the bare wood (which could get slippery depending on what the weather’s like when you come inside. You definitely don’t want people falling down your stairs!

Contempory Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen Remodel

For this project, we were asked for a contemporary  kitchen remodel that had ta modern kitchen design. This kitchen felt small and tight t before we got to work on our unique kitchen remodeling ideas.

Working together with the client we decided on a kitchen remodel that made the workspace much larger, with counter space doubling as bar seating. We also maximized the storage areas in this (what was previously) a much smaller feeling kitchen.

It’s amazing how things progress. It started out so plain – but with the help of Arc Construction of Washington’s small kitchen design ideas, it quickly became something to  be proud of. This kitchen’s before picture really says nothing! It’s very outdated and desperately needs to have some modern kitchen design help. So here’s just a few things you will notice when looking at the new kitchen below- versus the before pictures.

Before there were no windows. It was a small kitchen andt without windows itfelt even smaller and was very dark. But it didn’t take much to notice that this kitchen wall was facing the outside. So the general contractor went to work and cut a window to let people have a view of the outside and let the light shine in!

Now there is a window in this kitchen, and along with the addition of canned lighting in the ceiling, and a cool looking modern chandelier, this kitchen is bright and inviting.

In the design stage, the rich wood tones of the cupboards might make some people think  the dark colored wood may possibly make the kitchen feel smaller – but that’s not the case here.

We carefully offset the maple wood cupboards with white granite counter tops, a see-through chandelier and stainless steel refrigerator.

The lighter colored wheat oak hardwood flooring ties everything together and also helps brighten up the space.Small Kitchen Remodeling Ideas

The classic design of the black bar chairs only make the stainless feel more cool and inviting, and matching stainless kitchen chairs also complement the glass top kitchen table.

If you look closely, you can see that there is a nice little kitchen backsplash over the stove and a small nook by the refrigerator to put books, plants, etc on. A small green plant here helps dress it up nicely and adds to the warm feeling of the new kitchen remodel.

Unique Kitchen Remodel Seattle

The Kitchen is one of the first things people see when they come into your house. Kitchen Remodeling is also the one thing you want to make sure you get right because the kitchen and bathroom are the two main rooms in your house that can drastically affect the price of your house.

Therefore, when looking for a kitchen remodel Seattle contractor, you want to make sure you have someone who is familiar with this area.

Kitchens are more unique than bedrooms because they have plumbing, electric and a lot of larger electrical appliances that must be configured correctly if they are to work – not only within the flow of the kitchen, but also around what is already established.

When you’re doing a major kitchen remodeling project, it might be a good idea to work with someone in the beginning to go over what can be done, versus what you might think can be done. While most limitations can be somewhat averted, you don’t want to get your hopes up for something that is impossible to construct.

Our experience as a kitchen remodeling contractor is second to none! We can give you great ideas on what can be done and work within your budget to make sure it all goes as planned.

When doing this kind of remodeling, it’s nice if you have a vision of the completed project. You can get a drawing – or just have something floating around in your head. However, make sure you and your contractor are on the same page with what you want to do.

If you’re not living in the house while your kitchen remodeling is being done, be sure to stop by often to make sure things are going as planned and that everything is looking the way you envisioned. We don’t mind at all! All too often what we think will look nice comes out a little different in the end. Many times this different is good but sometimes it needs a little re-thinking to become the kitchen you had in mind.

Like I said in the beginning, be sure you get a professional to do this job for you. It’s much easier to do it right the first time then to spend more time and money correcting something that didn’t work out so well.

We are ready for your kitchen remodel in Seattle.  Give us a call today to get an idea about what type of kitchen remodeling make-over will suit your needs.

Residential Construction

New Home Residential ConstructionWhen you’re opting to locate a Seattle New Home Builder, you need to keep a few things in mind as you hunt around. Here are the most important things to consider before choosing who will be your custom home builder.

When searching on the Internet for a Seattle  Home Builders you may find quite a few results returned. Several of them may contain just a listing of folks who do Seattle new home construction, and several may be very large companies may be working on a few homes at a time.

The most essential is to discover a custom home builder who is licensed, bonded and insured. You don’t want to be the one crying on the TV show Holmes on Homes as one more contractor has to take over and clean up another contractor’s mess for you!

Seattle new home construction is not unlike construction in any other state. Nonetheless, each State will have deviating established ways and permits that are required at each juncture of the building process. You’ll want to work with somebody who is willing to do this research and get every little thing in place. The big companies are nice, but you might find yourself in competition with their time as they operate with several Seattle new home construction projects at the same time.

My view is that, when looking for Seattle new home builders, you should be checking out somebody who can give you quite a bit more consideration as a custom home builder. I’m not assuming that the business concern should only have me as a purchaser, but you do want a contractor who can give you the consideration you deserve as you begin your Seattle new home construction and begin building the house you’ve always dreamed of.

That being said, when you’re researching several Seattle New Home Builders you should be sure they can give you proof of their achievements! They may have illustrations of the work they’ve done, and should be able to give you a few references from satisfied customers.

When your Seattle New Home Construction is complete, we want you to tell everyone how wonderful your experience was using ARC Construction of Washington –  Seattle New Home Builders.
